A little About Me
My life passion is experiencing the great outdoors and sharing my knowledge and adventures with everyone. In today's day and age its very important to be prepared. I've put together some videos on my YouTube channel to help you guys out in survival and prepardness.
I enjoy spending time in the woods and sharing my adventures online, It gives me the opportunity to test gear and mental fortitude while being alone in the wild. These experiences will hopefully help you guys prepare for whatever situations you may find yourself in.
I'm happily married with 3 beautiful daughters, born and raised in North Carolina, and enjoy this great state and all the bounties it offers. I run a small business installing electrical equipment and in my spare time I'm outdoors hiking, backpacking, fishing, cooking and just enjoying life. Follow along as share all my experiences with you guys.
Some Projects I'm Currently Working On
Survival Techniques
DAKOTA FIREPIT
If you find yourself in an environment where survival and evasion are necessary you'll want to build a "Dakota Firepit" This firepit is almost smokeless and will offer you the benefits of an open fire without giving off your location. Simply dig a pit 16" Wide, 10" Deep, tunnel at least 16" away from the base and it will allow oxygen to feed the fire and cut down the smoke.
WATER FILTRATION
In order to survive you need water. A healthy person can make it 3 weeks without food, only 3 days without water! It's very important to have multiple ways to filter water in your survival kit. I suggest a Sawyer Mini, iodine tablets, and a way to boil to water. You also want to have a handkerchief or fabric to filter before boiling.
NAVIGATION
Getting lost is no joke! To make sure this doesn't happen to you I recommend having a compass, a lensatic map compass, notepad for marking locations, terrain features, etc., also a set of "ranger beads" or pace counter to know how far you've been. You need to practice using these tools, and keep a map of your area in your kit, always know where you are!
SHELTER
Shelter is often overlooked, however, you can actually die in less than 3 hours if you're caught off guard without shelter. I recommend at a minimum a small tarp at least 6 ft. by 6 ft., a poncho, mylar blanket, and even a couple 55 gallon drum liners to fill with debris and use as a mattress to keep you off the ground.
SURVIVAL KIT
A good survival kit will surely keep you alive. Make sure you have your bases covered. Fire making, water filtration, shelter, cutting equipment, cordage, signaling devices, flashlight, First Aid, canteen, and practice using these tools.
